Story 3. The Hundred Day Deal

Linda was my and Anne's highschool classmate. She was tall, had a beautiful face, but downright clumsy. She started hanging out with us when we were in our junior year. She was especially close to Jonathan. So close, in fact, that I felt like she was competing with me 😅. Whenever Jonathan would offer me a ride home, she would always insert herself between me and Jonathan and ask if Jonathan could also give her a ride home. I would end up walking home instead. Whenever we have road trips, I was supposed to be Jonathan's default passenger, but ever since she started hanging out with us she would tell me to ride with someone else. But Jonathan would insist that I ride with him. Can you imagine how hard it is to ride on a motorbike when there's 3 of your and you're wearing a skirt? I thought she was being immature but I started becoming suspicious when I saw Jonathan leaving Linda's house and the group wasn't even with them. Since when were they that close??? Like, my level of close? When Jonathan saw me, he immediately explained himself saying he was borrowing something. Sure, borrowing 🙄.

When we were in our senior year. Our P.E. was centered on ballroom dancing. I was thrilled after all ballroom was my thing. What was more special about senior P.E. was that all sections had joint lessons which means I, Anna, Keith, and Jonathan had the same class together. Knowing this beforehand, Jonathan and I already promised each other during our junior year that we would pair up, and Keith and Anna promised each other as well. So when ballroom classes finally began, naturally Jonathan and I paired up. Anna, on the other hand, was fuming because Keith paired up with someone else. There was a new student, and he huge crush on her. And there was Linda again, ignoring my existence and insisting that Jonathan pair up with him. But Jonathan was a good friend and explained to Linda that we had already planned to pair up long before she was a part of our group. She was obviously pissed. I mean, you can't always have it your way. I didn't mind her at first but it started getting seriously annoying whenever she would complain or sigh, saying her partner doesn't know how to dance. I honestly think that was very disrespectful to his dance partner. But Jonathan wasn't having any of it and ignored her. One time she finally snapped and said, "Kae only knows how to dance because Jonathan is guiding her." Like guuuuurrrllll, seriously??? To humor her, we switched partners and guess what? I guided her partner during our practice and our performance was fine. Because guess what? I know how to dance and don't need to rely on Jonathan to perform well. I don't know what happened between Jonathan and Linda though because Jonathan seemed cold to her and he still chose me to be his dance partner. And he was even extra petty, saying loud enough for Linda to hear, "Kae can you lead the dance, I feel lazy today." Linda never complained after that.

Linda started hanging out with us less and less. Not long before after our picnic on the hill (see STORY 2), I finally understood why Linda was acting the way she was. Jonathan told me that Linda liked her a lot. She liked her too much that she made a deal with Jonathan to date her for only 100 days. I was shoookktt. I mean Jonathan has a girlfriend. How did this all happen behind our backs? He said that the deal was already over and he was already feeling very guilty over it. It didn't help that Linda was being too clingy and possessive and acted like she was the real girlfriend. His revelation answered everything. No wonder Linda was like that. So did she just got close to the group to get close to Jonathan? Who knows. Linda and I are no longer friends. I guess friendship formed through selfish intentions never really lasts. END.
